In-car Driving Lessons

Do you teach stick shift (manual transmission)?

Yes we do teach driving stick shift / manual transmission; however, we do not currently have a stick shift car in our fleet, so you need to have access to a stick shift car.

We recommend initially learning on a standard automatic transmission, then learning the stick shift.

Most, but not all insurance companies offer discounts for drivers who take

Adult Drivers

Does Harmons teach Drivers over age 21?

Absolutely! We've taught drivers in their 90's!

One of our former students wrote:

My instructor was great! I am 26 years old and just moved from NYC back to the
Bryn mawr area. Haven't driven for 5 years, I definitely needed a refresher lesson
to feel more confident on the road. He reassured me when I was doing things
correctly, as well as gave advice on ways to be less timid when on the road. I
really appreciated having him in the car on my first go at driving after so many
years of using public transportation.

Other Questions

Do Harmons instructors speak languages other than English?

Harmons' driving instructors speak just English, however we have taught drivers from many countries including U.S., U.K., Australia, Germany, Austria, France, Ireland, Poland, India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, China, Algeria, Albania, Egypt, Israel, Iran, Iraq, Mexico, Columbia, Brazil, Chile, Burundi and others.

If the new driver speaks absolutely no English, we recommend having a friend for family member ride along to translate some of the subtleties.
